Not a pupa. This is a parasitised larval exoskeleton. J.Farr BAgSc Phd Forest entomologist. DBCA, Conservation Science Western Australia

No- it is a caterpillar. Look at the left end and you can clearly see the well defined head capsule with the adfrontal sutures (a bit of scientific terminology). The apparent multi-feet are indeed clumped, wet setae.
ID is inferred based on location and what appears to be apolysis.
The many little feet make me think it's a decapod of some sort http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decapoda
"wet-cat-lick"??? That does not sound very scientific...
A hairy caterpillar with the "wet-cat-lick" look!
