Description:
The cap of Collybia dryophila is about 2–5 centimetres in diameter, convex, and russet to ochre. The gills, which are only thinly attached to the stem, are whitish and crowded, and the spore powder is white. The bald stem can get up to 8 centimetres long and 4 mm in diameter.
Habitat:
This fungus is very common in northern hemisphere temperate woodlands, so much so that it is sometimes considered a weed mushroom. It is a saprobic fungus, in all kinds of woodland but most commonly under oak and beech.
Notes:
Spotted on dead leaves and twigs of European beech and French oak in rural area of Deventer, Holland.
