Field Notes

Description:

Small butterfly of the Hespiridae family. Strikingly coloured. Yellow and black colours.

Habitat:

This was found flitting amongst the flowering weeds (Tridax etc.,) that had sprouted on the soil between the pavement stones following the monsoon rains.

Notes:

Common in West Bengal, India; though I had never seen one before.

Nuwan...it did not have that fine spray of dots on the wings....if you have a minute will you please see this link: http://bengalbutterflies.com/cgi-bin/searchButterfly.cgi?option=showDetails&species=Dark%20Palm%20Dart It looked really similar.
