Field Notes

Description:

The pansy flower has two top petals going over each other slightly (light magenta), two side petals (light magenta), connectors where the three lower petals join the center of the flower, and a single bottom petal with a slight marking. (light magenta with dark purple center lobes)

Habitat:

Garden beds in early spring. It will live through some snow and freezing but does not survive heat well.

Notes:

The Atlanta Botanical Gardens, in Midtown, Georgia had tons of Pansies in their planters, pots, raised beds, and in the ground where they maintain seasonal annuals. A lot of professional landscaping companies around here who maintain neighborhood entrances and office complexes use these plants in the early spring.
