Description:

I have never seen the caterpillars consume the Pipevine Flower before. You can actually see the pipe behind the flower as they have consumed most of the petal. I wonder if the Butterfly might be slightly lavender instead of black.

Habitat:

On my pipevine wall in my Florida butterfly garden

Notes:

Look carefully on the third picture for smaller caterpillars near the top. Within two days I had no blooming flowers left, not even the pipe so it is obvious the parents were laying the eggs directly on the flowers.
