Field Notes

Description:

2 - 4 3/8" (5.1 - 11.1 cm) Brown to brick-red to olive, with various patterns in lighter colors. Brownish spots, warts brown to orange red. Often a light stripe down middle of back. Belly usually spotted. Male has a dark throat.

Habitat:

A variety of habitats from mowed grassy yards to heavily forested mountains, wherever there are a lot of insects & moisture. The better part of the eastern North American Continent, save extreme northern & southern sections.

Notes:

Spotted in the yard outside the house.
