Field Notes

Description:

Beautiful creatures... These two, both female, were raised in captivity from a very young age. Although I love and respect the work done at the wildlife park, I can't help but see these amazing animals as dogs locked behind bars.

Notes:

Spotted at Shubenacadie Wildlife Park, NS, taken with Canon Rebel EOS XS w/ EF-S 55-250mm IS Zoom Lens.

Well, at least they aren't dead by some rancher, farmer, or cattleman's gun because we've encroached all their natural habitat. You have to think of captive wild animals as making the best of an imperfect situation. In captivity, we can hopefully educate enough to stop taking all the natural habitats and get some offspring born to maybe one day replace the herd in the wild that gets set aside by our "better educated because of the captive wild animal educated children".
By the way, I would have loved to get a nice body shot o these guys, but I was raking immediately beside their enclosure (as in, a foot or so away from them, hehe), and they were way too interested in me to back off enough for my lens to be able to capture their bodies. I'll get a good full body picture asap. :)
