Field Notes

Description:

Thanks so much to alicelongmartin for the ID!

Habitat:

My garden.

Notes:

I thought that perhaps these were "weeds" (whatever that term really means), but I let them go to flower just in case. I was rewarded with these beautiful yellow blooms on tall stalks!

Thnks so much for the info! And lucky you to have a bobcat in your area - I'm really lucky just to see a coyote.
Gaillardia, there are many colors. Seeds can be carried by the birds or the wind. Rabbits ate mine off as they came up for 2 years. Then a Bobcat came calling in our area and we barely see a rabbit and I have flowers.
