Field Notes

Description:

Woody stems with curving bristles. Leaves usually 3 parted, shiny, toothed. Flowers 3/4" (2 cm) wide. Sepals & petals 5 each; many stamens & pistils.

Habitat:

Moist thickets, open woods and clearings.

Notes:

This one spotted on the side of Bald Mountain New Hampshire, in a deciduous forest.
