Field Notes

Description:

Monocotyledon, geophyte, short flowering period rain dependent. Attractive white flowers with elongated corolla tubes arise singly from the subterranean bulb.

Habitat:

in open grassy area between bushes on sandy soil. Vegetation type bushveld; climate hot, arid with summer rainfall (450mm p.a.) and dry winters. Max summer temperatures touching 40C, minimum winter temps can fall below zero although not experienced every year.
