He was fishing in a fresh water spring that flows out to the Gulf of Mexico

Thanks! I was on a boardwalk in a nature park so he may be kind of use to people here. He did start walking back when I stopped to take the pictures.
I like that third shot - cool angle. Nice job btw, I know these birds are usually pretty skiddish
the dark crown, gray back, and bicolored bill are all indicative of a juvie Great Blue Heron. It lacks the coloration of a Tricolored Herron.
It doesn't have the feathers on the top though.
