Field Notes

Description:

Cherries are ripe and blue tits have been raiding the cherry tree opposite my house. First two pics are of a juvenile (grey cap, yellow face, pale yellow chest), the last two of an adult (blue cap, white face, yellow chest).

Habitat:

Deciduous and mixed woodlands, parks and gardens. Resident breeder throughout temperate and subarctic Europe and western Asia.

Notes:

In winter will be found in reeds.

It's funny how birds are such a distinctive marker of where one lives Karen... on my side I miss the colour and riotous noises of Australian birds: our European birds are so well behaved in comparison!
I miss the birds I used to watch at my feeders in England - especially the tits and robins (american robins are nowhere near as interesting as the european species in my opinion!) & the magpies which we don't get in Tennessee!
I love these little guys!
