Hello Christiane I ID'd my own spotting using this photo of Emma. I also saw this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opuntia that has a section on food. I hope it helps in checking if the fruit of your weed is edible.
Also Christian if you can upload a picture of the cactii in your neighbourhood?
Christian , I had uploaded an opuntia cactus and Nichol said that the fruit is yummy.Check this out http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6414032 This cactus which I uploaded did not have any flowers or fruits. I personally have not eaten cactii.. Let me do some research on edible cacti and also let me talk to some people who know about it and I will write back.
@ Emma.. do you know it you can eat the fruits??? They are a weed here and have lots of fruits!!
