Description:
These are not Sea Oats, but Sea Grass. They help hold the sand in dunes and protect the areas behind the sand dunes. These sand dunes were destroyed with a couple of hurricanes and are beginning to rebuild themselves.
Notes:
My father took these two pictures. He works daily on Destin Beach in Destin, FL in the summers with the Destin Beach Safety Patrol Jr. Lifeguard Program. He took these pictures for me to post on here when I told him about the mission "Gulf Coast Oil Spill Impact." He wanted to share that they saw some oil, but not a lot on Destin Beach when the oil spill moved along the coast.
