A big possibility is Ophiusa tirhaca, listed existing in our neighboring countries in South and Southeast Asia - http://www.jpmoth.org/~dmoth/80_Noctuidae/09Catocalinae/4202_Ophiusa_tirhaca/Ophiusa%20tirhaca.htm
not sure! according to wiki page Ophiusa parcemacula is not found in Philippines http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ophiusa_parcemacula
Thank you Nuwan for breaking it down for me. Do you think it may be the Parcemacula Moth - Ophiusa parcemacula ? It seems like it's that specific one.
Hi CherreyMae! We'd love to have this moth on the mission "Moths in the Philippines" at http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/15913873. Please join. Thanks!
a tough one indeed! it seems to look like a lot of them but the markings seem to point me to different directions..
I don't think its R. propinqualis, doesn't quite have the same markings. It might be a species of Marimatha but I think it still needs more research. This is a tough one!
and now it looks closest to Spotted Grass Moth Rivula propinqualis but I can't find any record that such is found in the Philippines :-( I'm desperate...
this is closest to the Marimatha and Cobubatha of Noctuidae: Acontiinae-Pantheinae. What do you think Dan?
it wasn't flying around at all.. and by the way, can you help me ID that starfish I saw in the same place as this one?
I can't see its antennae which can be an identifying characteristic but most moths do rest with their wings open. I'm thinking moth. It looks like you saw it during the day. Was it flying around at all? I'm thinking it was just resting on the rocks until nightfall.
Yeah, this one is tough. I did a bit of a search on google too, no luck.
i can't seem to match this thing to any of the butterflies in southeast asia, and there's only one picture for the moth in my region :-(
Oh, no problem. If you ever think I can help with ID and you want me to take a look at your spotting, you can always leave a comment on this thread or any of my spottings so I will see it.
haha good thing your back on.. i really do need help with the ID's.. you've already proven your worth hehe..
Hey Cherrey, check out this website, might help you ID some of your butterflies http://www.learnaboutbutterflies.com/index.htm
