Field Notes

Description:

As its name implies, the head is small and completely devoid of feathers, covered with red and wrinkled skin. The body plumage is black, except the underside which is very mixed, black and gray. The tail is long and narrow, the legs are gray.

Habitat:

The vulture will occupy virtually all of America from southern Canada to Tierra del Fuego. His extraordinary ability to adapt has allowed to colonize the most extreme environments, the most arid deserts of South America to the tropical rain forests. The harsh climate and high winds have not prevented from settling in certain regions .

Notes:

When I saw this huge bird, I hurry to get closer to photograph them. There were 5 or 6 big as that! That was crazy! These large birds can reach 81cm in height ! - Quand j'ai vu cet enorme oiseau , je me suis depecher a me rapprocher pour les photographiers . Sur des poteau de cloture , il en avait 5 ou 6 ! C' etait debile ! Ces gros oiseaux peuvent atteindre 81cm de hauteur !
