Field Notes

Description:

This close to the shore, we observed smaller individuals, of up to 15cm in length; even though these seabreams can reach 40 to 45 cm. Silvery grey fish of Sparidae shape; with two identifying vertical black bands, one close to gills, the other close to tail.

Habitat:

Widespread in East Atlantic and Mediterranean sea, this seabream is a very common fish in Adriatic, close to shores. This summer (as each and every summer) we observed it on every beach in the area, between rocks and on rocky bottoms in shallow waters close to shores. Here, a bay close to Old Town.
