Description:

This was a very robust and vicious looking Assassin Bug (also called a "Bee Killer") with warning coloration. About 1.5 cm long. Family Reduviidae.

Habitat:

Heavy shrubbery along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 11.5, 865 meters.

Hi bayucca. I poured over these two spottings for a long time and finally decided that they are different species. Thank you so much for the generic name. I don't remember if the ventral side of the abdomen was yellow for either of them. Renato is my husband :) and we are often out hiking and looking for insects together.
Reduviidae, Harpactorinae, Apiomerus sp., same one like this: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/65146136?? Any yellow belly there? Who is Renato?
