Description:

Small to medium-sized birds with compact bodies, short, thick necks and long, usually pointed, wings. 30-40 cm in size, 300-500 grams

Habitat:

Australia, commonly found near coastal regions or bodies of water in Southern & Eastern states.

Notes:

Photos of a nesting mother bird, along with a juvenile bird under a year old, along with 2 chicks at about 2 weeks of age.
