Field Notes

Description:

Baby Alligator hunting for tadpoles and crayfish at night

Habitat:

A lake in Albany, Georgia. The lake was flooding and the gators would sit with their mouths open at the bottom of the small waterfalls waiting for fish and bullfrog tadpoles to fall into their mouths.

Notes:

I followed and photographed a group of around 9 baby alligators for a week and then for another week a few months later. I have many pictures of them during the day, as well as of some full grown adults, but the ones taken at night are nice for showing their hunting poses.
