This is also the only newt you can find in the eastern US.

This is an Eastern Red Spotted Newt (Notophthalmus virudescens). This is in the Red Eft terrestrial stage. This is not quite an adult, you can think of it as a teenage newt that isn't ready to return to water and breed.
