Description:

Similar to Turkey Tail, fungi with a fuzzy cap of brown, red, orange, buff, and green colors, False Turkey Tail (Stereum ostrea) is much more smooth and lacks the fuzzy texture of the true Turkey Tail.

Habitat:

Grows on dead wood of hardwood trees.

Notes:

Spotted at St Marks NWR along the trails behind visitor center.
