Field Notes

Description:

A small (less than 1") insect with cicada-type wings. The body is bright green with the prominent feature being an elongated head. It is in the Dictyopharidae
family which, according to Wiki, has nearly 760 species in more than 150 genera, so I doubt I will get any closer than this in the classification.

Habitat:

This insect was found under a light on the end of a cement building in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador (700 masl).

Notes:

A unique looking insect that I dubbed "The rat-faced hopper" probably in the hopper family, but the name was easy to remember.
