this little guy was found at Castle lake, near mount shasta, ca on a mountain side, about 7,000 ft elevation.

I agree on Western Sagebrush Lizard.
This looks like it could be a female Western Sagebrush Lizard. This is in the group of lizards called the spiny lizards (Sceloporus) But the Sagebrush has smaller, more granular scales than other members of the genus.
