Field Notes

Description:

I'm not sure what species this is because I didn't get a photo of its back. About 1 cm (1/2 in) long. Black head, yellow thorax. There is a yellow band on the abdomen. The rest of the abdomen was black.

Habitat:

I found this bumblebee, along with hundreds of its sisters, feeding on goldenrod blossoms in an old field surrounded by deciduous forest.
