Field Notes
Description:
Yellow crookneck squash is one of many cultivated Cucurbita pepo, the gourd species that includes zucchini and pumpkin. This is a variety of summer squash with bumpy, yellow skin and sweet flesh. Its name distinguishes it from its close relative, the yellow summer squash, which has a straight neck. The taste is closer to winter squashes than to summer squashes, although it is a short-season bearer.
The squash are supposed to taste best when harvested at approximately 6 inches in length. - Wikipedia
Notes:
These yellow summer squash came from a seed packet that said they were yellow crookneck squash. I do not see bumps usually found on crookneck squash.
