Notes:

There are two cattail species in Illinois -- Narrow-Leaved Cattail (Typha angustifolia) and Common Cattail (Typha latifolia). Because the species overlap in range, they sometimes hybridize. Consequently, it can be difficult to identify a specimen plant in the wild.
