I just took a look there is Triteleia (the new genus name for Brodiaea) hyacinthina and Triteleia grandiflora in Idaho according to the PLANTS database. I'm still sticking with Allium acuminatum from the comparison. Wild onion is very common for southern Idaho, especially this exact species.

It might actually be a Brodiaea spp (hyacinth) which is also in the Lily family.

I didn't to smell it, or apparently slow down my hike enough to focas the camera very well but I believe that you are right. Tapertip Onion! Thanks ;)

Definitely looks like a wild onion.

Did it smell like onion? Could be Allium cernuum.
