Description:

The mule deer, has a black dipped tail. Mule Deer height from 3.0-3.5 feet tall at the shoulder, 4.5-7.0 feet long and have a tail that is 5.0-8.0 inches long. They can weigh between 130-280 pounds. There fur color may vary from grey-ish brown to brown. Humans hunts for these kind of deers, this relationship is called parasitism because the predators benefit while the mule deer does not. The mule deer has a thick coat of fur, the bigger the mass and the thicker the fur, the better chance of survival. The type of reproduction the mule deer uses is sexual.The peak breeding period for mule deer is from late November to mid-December. The average gestation period is 204 days.

Habitat:

Mule deer can be found in mountain forests, wooded hills and in chaparral as long there is enough vegetation to hide in and to eat. They will move to higher areas on the hottest parts of the summer and move to lower areas in the winter months.Mule deer consume a wide variety of plants, and their preferences vary widely geographically as well as seasonally, but they are primarily browsers on woody vegetation and eat relatively little grass.
