Field Notes

Description:

Yellow and black butterfly, with the hind portion of the wing protruding. It was found feeding on a thistle flower, and when scared it away, it would continuously fly back to the same flower.

Habitat:

Found in a roadside ditch, near deciduous trees. Near the Cedar river

Notes:

Fond on the border of Minnesota and Iowa, on the MN side
