Field Notes

Description:

Gray bird with a yellow bill. The head is mostly black with a white forehead. They are the smallest tern in NA and the interior subspecies is endangered.

Habitat:

Nesting in the road in a wetland. This is on state property and the biologists had the area around the nest taped off since they are endangered. This nest failed but I was at the site again 2 weeks ago and there were several juveniles flying around, so there must have been other nests around that were successful.
