Field Notes

Description:

The Sargassum Frogfish can be very well camouflage among the Sargassum weeds that they are usually found, which floats near the sea surface. They are probably never seen at sea bottom, away from Sargassum weed. They do have been seen free swimming near sea surface, probably moving from one sargassum weed cluster to another.

Habitat:

Found among sargassum weed or other sea weeds, near sea surface.

Notes:

Other interesting fact about the Sargassum Frogfish :

- It is the only species in the genus Histrio.
- It's name is a Tautonym, meaning both genus name and species name is the same.
