Description:
Butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. Males have a wingspan of about 53 mm, and females, approximately 58 mm. The wings are white with very marked black spots that draw a chequered pattern.
The butterflies appear usually in June or July. The female leaves the eggs, letting them fall in flight, on the vegetation that will be the food of the larvae.
They are attracted by the flowers of Centaurea, Cirsium, Carduus and Scabiosa.

Spotted in deciduous forest in mountains. Parque Natural de Somiedo
