i might ask some thai people for the common thai name
thanks bayucca. the genera i think is correct, but i doubt the speci. This was really 3,5 cm or longer. who cares about common names?! :)
Vespidae, Eumeninae, most probably Phimenes flavopictus. Please, verify and specially verify the uncommon common name, you never know ;-)... Other common name would be Potter Wasp. http://www.natureloveyou.sg/Minibeast-Bee/Phimenes%20flavopictus/Main.html http://www.flickr.com/photos/76033499@N00/4499876054/ http://thailandwildlife.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/Hymenoptera-ants-bees-wasps/G0000O.Mm4qQye84/I00003PB4pNCpi.Q http://www.panoramio.com/photo/93598684 Some call this one also Delta arcuatum: http://www.padil.gov.au/pests-and-diseases/Pest/Main/136369 This has to be checked as well if they really are synonyms!!
