Description:
A tiny owl (up to 5.9 inches or 15 cm) that has a gray belly streaked on the sides and a brown back and head. This was my number 1 bird I wanted to find while in Mexico, and finally got it the last morning :)
Habitat:
Sitting in the top of a tree along the edge of jungle at my resort.
Notes:
While out birding in the morning, a whole bunch of Chachalacas started making tons of noise from all over the place. I knew they were Chachalacas, but for some reason I wanted to go track them down anyways. I went and found the closest one to me just to see it. Then they were still making a lot of noise, so I decided to go look for the next closest one to me. I got it down to an area at the top of a tree, but couldn't see anything with just my eyes. So I put my binos up, and first thing I see is this little guy sitting there. The Chachalaca was somewhere on the other side of the tree, but I didn't care about seeing it anymore ;)
