Field Notes

Description:

An active wasp about 20mm long including ovipositor. The head and thorax were a bright yellow with deep brown markings. The abdominal segments and ovipositor were dark with the terminal abdominal segments mostly, having blue bands.
Each forewing had a black pterostigma.
Looking at the wing venation (pic 5), a quadrate cell near the inner wing margin might help to identify this wasp as an ichneumon ( and not braconid)

Habitat:

Attracted to garden lights - warm night.

Notes:

Not sure of an ID for this attractive specimen- possible Gotra sp. Will keep looking.
