Description:

About 1 inch long. Bright yellow-orange with small dark spots on underside of wings. Antennae are short compared to other skippers.

Habitat:

Flower garden near hay pasture.

Notes:

Fiery skippers are one of the few butterflies that can adapt to the disturbance of mowing. (according to Butterflies of Houston and Southeast Texas, John & Gloria Tveten.)
