Field Notes

Description:

Final series of baby Barn Swallow images from hatching to leaving the nest. This shows the mom feeding the babies, one flew of and left three in the nest, two in the nest, the two outside the nest coxing the two behind to fly with them, all on a telephone pole, and finally the empty nest.

Notes:

Four adults fed these four babies. My mother used to rehab birds and she said she could place a rehabbed baby in a barn with other barn swallows and they would start feeding them. They are very nurturing birds.
