Field Notes

Description:

This species adapts an incredible variety of colours, with the ability to change it in less than one hour.

It varies in shades of grey and brown, where its lightest is almost white.

Occasionally emerald spots are found on the back, as can be seen here, It's pupils are also a distinctive cross shape.

Aprox 3.5 cm to 6 cm

Habitat:

Found it on tarpaulin covering a backyard trampoline after rains

This is exactly the frog that I sighted on my front verandah but that I identified as L. tyleri due to the lack of pit and groin markings. Maybe mine is L. peronii after all;-)

Depends on your definition of a maniacal cackle I guess, I found this site, http://frogs.org.au/frogs/species/Litoria/peroni/ which has a recording of its call.
