Field Notes

Description:

Three beautiful male peafowls I'd spotted before the lockdown!Coronavirus may just be the beginning, many more pandemics to be anticipated.Destroying the natural world, capturing wild animals as pets and for food, deforestation all are contributing factors and this is increasing at an unacceptable rate. Our tropical rainforests are full of rich biodiversity and in them are plenty of unknown viruses and pathogens.Destruction leads to failure of containment of these pathogens.Source of coronavirus is thought to be pangolin,an animal which has drastically decreased(all of the species in the genus have IUCN status-Threatened)in numbers due to trading for scales, meat etc.Protection of our biodiversity and forests will ultimately lead to our protection!
Stay home stay safe everyone!
