It is unusual in that its figs grow on or close to the tree trunk.

Is this tree find in Americas too. Apache used to make smoke to send message, may used sticks of this tree for more smoke.
Thanks Ashish. It doesn't seem to be native to the area where I saw it but it matches the description.
Yes Alice. This tree is like a God to Indians. It helps in identify water sources, branch sticks used for holy traditional functions. Tree is considering place of God. No one try to cut this tree if its around houses.
Most important This tree not naturally grown from seeds. Its grown where Crow's sheat containing this tree's seeds(after a crow eats these fruits)
Yes... In India sticks of this tree used in Yagnya(Puja, Wedding, etc.)
It is too bad these are not edible. I've seen plenty of figs while hiking. It would be nice if you could just pick and eat them. Many have fig wasps inside them though.
if its dry stick burned observed lot of white smoke from them.
These figs mostly not eat by humans... this tree is identified as water sources...
