Field Notes

Description:

Male Eastern Bluebirds are vivid, deep blue above and rusty or brick-red on the throat and breast. Blue in birds always depends on the light, and males often look plain gray-brown from a distance. - Source Cornell Lab of Ornithology at http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/eastern_bluebird/id

Habitat:

Eastern USA.

Notes:

I saw 3 of these females flying past my window, then saw all three perch on different things in my front yard. One found the trellis netting comfy for a bit, one found the Shepard's Hook then tent/awning frame, while the third preferred the tent/awning frame then the ground. About 5 minutes later, the male bluebird showed up. This picture series is the male. The 3rd picture he is leaving the perch near where the females were and heading for the Quansan Cherry Tree.
