Description:

Turkey-sized black bird with distinctive red facial and throat markings.

Habitat:

Savanna, woodland and grasslands with adjoining forests.

Notes:

Threatened in many parts of its range, loves eating tortoises and snakes. The snake in the photo is a puff adder Bitis arietans one. of our deadliest. (stood no chance).

I happened to get a few special shots of this ground Hornbill a few years ago, going to upload one or two..
