Field Notes

Description:

In the last photo, you can see the dragonfly in my previous spotting. I found them both swimming in the water, struggling to make it ashore. I think it is possible they were either mating and fell in the water, or fighting and fell in. However, I can't tell if they are both males of different species or same species with different coloration or just a male and a female of the same species. Large darner with a brown thorax with yellow stripes and the abdomen is also brown with greenish markings.

Habitat:

Found in the water close to shore of Afognak Island. This was up in a little calm cove.
