mmm, I don't think is a Chrysomelid beetle. Beetles on this family always have a thick cuticle. Meloid and Staphilinid family do have soft body "skin"

Hi sttweets Color is not an important characteristic on identifying insect families, maybe just for identifying species (and not always). The body structure is much more important. You can see here some characteristics of the family Meloidae. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meloidae
@JuanDiTrani I'm not sure. At first I thought it was a blister beetle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blister_beetle), but the legs should be red then. Will keep on researching.
