Description:

I found this crossing the road in Crosset, Arkansas . I think it is an Alligator Turtle, but I am not sure. It was very beautiful.

Habitat:

Dry flat land , near corn fields.

Notes:

Very large neck that was able to extend more than the average turtle.

It's an Eastern Snapping Turtle, Chelydra serpentina. They (as well as Alligator Snapping Turtles) exhibit that "high-walking" behavior sometimes when they feel threatened.
