Description:

This is a wide-ranging turtle of the eastern US. It is the only map turtle that is found in atlantic drainages. One way to identify it from other sympatric turtles is the triangular spot behind the eye.

Habitat:

Rivers and large streams, especially ones with a great mussel diversity

Notes:

Hatchling.
