Field Notes

Description:

A young female as indicated by the rounded dome shell an lack of colorful markings on the head and legs. The only land based turtle in this area, this one was wet from a morning rain. Nice yellow markings on a dark brown shell. The state reptile for North Carolina.

Habitat:

Mixed forest on the border of the wetlands.
