Field Notes

Description:

The males of this particular species tend to be smaller than the females. Even more interesting, those found in the south tend to be larger than those in the north. The males are Yellow with four tiger stripes. The females tend to go from yellow to either a light black or bluish color with spots of yellow and/or orange.

Habitat:

It is found mainly along the east coast and on the great plains. Also, they are noted to be found almost anywhere deciduous forests occur. Common habitats include woodlands, fields, rivers, creeks, roadsides, and gardens.
