Field Notes

Description:

Magnolia tree. The leaves are dark and waxy like a grandiflora but the flowers are not 12 inches across. Also, the center of the flower is pink (the stem) and the fruit appears correct for a grandiflora.

Habitat:

Tropical South.

Notes:

This is a dwarf cultivar of the southern magnolia.

I suspected a "Little Gem", but was hesitant about pushing that name. I wasn't finding it on the list of magnolia types that I was using as a source.
Could be a cultivar, like 'Little Gem".
